ICT, My Self, and The Society

When Empowerment Technology was first introduced to me, I couldn’t help but feel excited. Excited since we're gonna learn about computers and expand our knowledge in tech. However, I also felt insecure. Because I might lack proficiency in ICT skills compared to my classmates since I did not have the appropriate resources to learn them despite my best interest.

Empowerment Technology is a subject that taught me how to consider things when it comes to the online world. I learned in this subject that when in the online world, we need to consider the other people using it. This changed the way I view ICT because I became more observant. It has also taught me to always remember our netiquettes when using social media because we need to consider others' feelings too.

Thanks to Sir Philip, my knowledge in ICT isn't limited to MS Office and other productivity tools (lol). He introduced us to various elements that give us more substance in graphic design. Layouting and Designing have been my pastimes since my childhood. I am really glad that this subject exists in this curriculum.

Being convenient is not the only reason why people love technology. Entertainment is also one of the thousand reasons. Sir Philip also explained to us what ICT has done. When many things were happening in the Philippines, like the EDSA Revolution and Yolanda. We would not be where we are (or even alive) today if technology ceased to exist.

ICT is a great jumpstart if you want to pursue a career in technology. Learn the basics to learn to advance. The actualization of your imagination is just one click away.
